What is a Founding Member?

A Founding Member is anyone who joins Parts Known during early access, adds genuine work to the archive, and helps us prove this platform is worth building.

That includes:

  • • Full-time professionals
  • • Semi-pros
  • • Students
  • • Committed hobbyists
  • • Venues and organisations of all sizes

Founding Members:

  • • Get Pro free for 12 months (no card required)
  • • Keep a Founding badge on their profile or organisation page forever
  • • Lock in our lowest Pro price if they choose to stay Pro after the free year
  • • Qualify for special Early Adopter medals that won't be available later

The Founding Member offer

For individuals

We're giving the first 1,000 people who properly join Parts Known:

  • • Pro free for 12 months, no credit card required
  • • A Founding Member – 2025 badge on your profile
  • • A locked-in low Pro price afterwards (no surprise increases)
  • • Eligibility for Early Adopter medals in your Medals section

To count, you just need to:

  1. Create a free Parts Known profile
  2. Complete the quick setup
  3. Add at least one genuine credit (production or event)

For groups & companies

The first 250 groups – companies, bands, collectives, festivals, schools – to set up properly will receive:

  • • Group Pro free for 12 months
    • – Multiple admins
    • – Multiple opportunities live at once
    • – Pretty URL for your page
    • – Equipment hire tools where relevant
  • • A Founding Company – 2025 badge on your group page
  • • Priority support getting your production or event history into the archive

To qualify, your group must:

  1. Create a group page
  2. Add at least one production or event with some credits

For venues

The first 100 venues to join and list their spaces will receive:

  • • Venue Pro free for 12 months
    • – Multiple admins
    • – Pretty URL for your venue
    • – Equipment hire tools where relevant
  • • A Founding Venue – 2025 badge on your venue page
  • • Priority support setting up your spaces, tech specs and equipment

To qualify, your venue must:

  1. Create a venue page
  2. Add at least one space or event

Why we're doing this

Parts Known is being built as long-term infrastructure for the performing arts:

  • • A proper professional home for people who make live performance happen
  • • A verified archive of credits, works, venues and events
  • • The foundation for future casting, discovery and licensing tools

We're deliberately keeping it affordable and artist-first, which means:

  • • Core tools stay free
  • • Pro stays low-cost
  • • We avoid the "pay-to-exist" model that locks people out

Founding Members are the people who help us get from:

to:

"This is how people find work, people and places in the performing arts."

We're not here to gatekeep or price-gouge. Founding perks are a thank-you to the people who help us build something everyone can use, without needing deep pockets.

What we ask from Founding Members

It's simple:

  • • Add real work – productions, events, credits that actually happened
  • • If you can, invite collaborators so they can add and verify their credits too
  • • Tell us when something's confusing – your feedback directly shapes what we build next

Every credit you add doesn't just help you – it strengthens the shared record of the work our community makes.

How to become a Founding Member

You qualify automatically if:

Individuals

You're among the first 1,000 people to:

  • • Create a profile
  • • Complete setup
  • • Add at least one genuine credit

Groups

You're among the first 250 groups to:

  • • Create a group page
  • • Add at least one production or event

Venues

You're among the first 100 venues to:

  • • Create a venue page
  • • Add at least one space or event

When you qualify, we'll:

  • • Apply Pro free for 12 months to your account
  • • Add a Founding Member / Founding Company / Founding Venue badge
  • • Unlock your first Early Adopter medal in /backstage/medals

You'll see a confirmation banner in Backstage – no payment details required.

Our promise

  • No gatekeeping – if you did the work, you can list the work. Professionals, semi-pros, students and hobbyists all belong here.
  • Affordable, by design – we will make deliberate, executive decisions to keep Parts Known as free or as low-cost as possible for the people who use it. The platform should fit real performing-arts incomes, not landlord them.
  • Artist-first – you control your narrative and what's public.
  • Built for the long term – this isn't a short-term marketplace; it's infrastructure for live performance.
